UCF continues a strong month on the recruiting trail, landing its fourth verbal commitment in June, this one from Lakeland Christian School interior offensive lineman Ty MontsDeOca.

The 6-foot-3, 282-pound MontsDeOca pledged to the Knights on Monday, a day after attending his official visit on campus this weekend. He had 18 offers from Power Four schools, including Colorado, Wake Forest and West Virginia, before choosing to stay closer to home.

The Lakeland native becomes the ninth high school prospect to verbally commit to UCF as part of its 2027 recruiting cycle, joining edge rushers Noah Robinson and Dontallis Render, running back Omari St. Fort, receivers Jamal Robinson Jr. and Kaneilius Purdy, tight end Tanner Ehmen, safety Kash Kolbow and cornerback Jonathan Barnes.

Render, St. Fort and Barnes committed Sunday.

MontsDeOca is the first commitment for new offensive line coach AJ Blazek, who joined the program in December.

Blazek laid out his recruitment strategy during spring camp in May.

“In a great year right now, you have three high school guys and one or two transfers, depending on what our number is,” he said. “You take 65 to 67 percent high school (prospects), because you still want to develop guys.”

UCF’s 2027 class currently ranks 78th according to 247Sports’ composite rankings and 16th overall in the Big 12.

All verbal commitments are non-binding but can become official during the early signing period in December.
