Oregon Ducks add yet another 5-star wide receiver

When you think about the elite college football teams in wide receiver recruiting, obviously, the Ohio State Buckeyes are at the top of the list. But the Oregon Ducks are starting to make a little bit of noise.

On Tuesday, 5-star WR Dakota Guerrant announced his commitment to the Ducks, bumping Oregon up to the No. 4 spot in the 2027 national recruiting rankings. Guerrant ranks as the No. 23 overall player and the No. 4 wide receiver in the class. He will be a major addition to the Ducks' signing class, especially alongside blue-chip passer Will Mencl, one of the best QBs in the nation.

What's impressive about this is the consistency with which the Ducks have started to attract elite pass-catchers. Before Dan Lanning got to town, Oregon was not viewed as a wide receiver school, with its last and only 5-star WR being Cameron Colvin, committing back in 2004. Now, the Ducks have signed a 5-star WR in five straight recruiting classes.

  • 2023 Class: Jurrion Dickey
  • 2024 Class: Gatlin Bair
  • 2025 Class: Dakorien Moore
  • 2026 Class: Jalen Lott
  • 2027 Class: Dakota Guerrant

It's no secret that Lanning is one of the best recruiters in all of college football, but seeing how much he has improved the talent level at the WR position in particular is encouraging for Oregon fans.
