Jon Sumrall’s ability to recruit at a high level is coming into focus more and more, and it could end with a five-star flip.
Florida Gatotr head coach Jon Sumrall is doing a fantastic job recruiting.
Even after his first flip, with four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson committing to Oregon eight days after doing so with Florida, recruiting is going off at a high level. This past weekend was a big one for the Gators, as they hosted two five-star recruits already committed to other programs: wide receiver Easton Royal and defensive lineman Jalen Brewster.
We are still waiting on both players to visit the schools they committed to in the Texas Longhorns and Texas Tech Red Raiders, respectively.
Florida Gators 2027 Recruiting Class
- In Jon Sumrall’s first season, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class with 21 commitments.
- Among their commitments, three of their top ones are on the offensive line, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
- Sumrall is chasing multiple five-star recruits, including two at wide receiver and the No. 1 overall recruit in Texas Tech commitment Jalen Brewster.
Florida Gators are closing in on WR Easton Royal
Royal made it very clear how much he enjoyed his visit to Gainesville this past weekend, as he was posting about it the entire time.
The Gators also gained momentum with Royal and his family, who told Rivals that they “felt like a priority.”
“The attention to detail stood out. detail. Probably, the biggest thing is that they’re the only school I know with five different receiver coaches. The way they broke it down – it’s really good because they have five different guys who can teach you different things. They can teach you things in different ways to add to your toolbelt, and the attention to detail on everything is crazy. They have you maximizing the time you have in (individual) drills. The best thing about it is that there’s no ego. Coach Davis is the head receiver coach, but if he feels that one of the other receiver coaches can teach you better, or a better way, or explain it a better way. way. He’s going to let them do that 100-percent of the time.”
The element of no ego is another great sign for the Gators long-term sustained success. If they can continue that process, it will maximize how well they can continue recruiting throughout Sumrall’s tenure.
Now, if they can successfully flip Royal, things will accelerate in Gainesville.
