The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been one of the busiest teams in recruiting this offseason, and the program landed a big fish on Tuesday. Even more impressive, Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish beat out Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers for one of the best recruits in the 2027 class.

Reports indicate that five-star edge rusher Abraham Sesay officially committed to Notre Dame, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3 Sports. Sesay chose the Fighting Irish over LSU, as well as Penn State and Florida State.

“BREAKING: Five-Star EDGE Abraham Sesay has committed to Notre Dame, he tells me for Rivals,” recorded Fawcett. “The 6’6 235 lbs EDGE chose the Fighting Irish over LSU, Penn State, and Florida State.”

Sesay shared an immediate message upon making his announcement, committing to Notre Dame, per Fawcett. The Pennsylvania native thanked his family and supporters and seemed excited about his future in college football.

“Thank you to all of my loved ones,” said Sesay. “Nothing but the Lord’s will.”

The five-star defensive lineman currently attends Downingtown East High School. He is the No. 27-ranked player in the nation and is the No. 6-ranked edge rusher on Rivals list. He is estimated to make about $250,000 in NIL when he eventually joins the Fighting Irish program as a true freshman.

Abraham Sesay is the second five-star athlete to commit to Notre Dame this offseason, as Freeman also landed five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola. The Fighting Irish have also secured 12 four-star athletes, along with four three-stars. The program’s 2027 recruiting class is ranked No. 3 overall in the nation on On3 Sports’ rankings.
