After taking down Iowa on Saturday, Lincoln Riley and the USC football team will travel to Eugene this coming week for a massive showdown with Oregon. On Sunday, the matchup got even bigger. ESPN announced that its iconic College GameDay pregame show will broadcast live from Eugene.
This will mark GameDay’s first visit to a USC game since the 2016 season. That season, the show traveled to the Trojans’ road matchup with Washington, as well as the Rose Bowl against Penn State. USC won both games.
GameDay has still not been to a USC home game since 2013, when the Trojans upset No. 4 Stanford. Assuming that the show does not come to USC’s home finale against 3-7 UCLA next week, that drought will go on 13 years.
Famously, USC never lost a football game when legendary GameDay analyst Lee Corso donned the Trojans’ headgear. With Corso now retired, however, USC will have to look elsewhere for good luck Saturday in the Pacific Northwest.
