Austin “House” Ramsey (b. Feb. 15, 2005) is a transfer defensive tackle from Kentucky who is majoring in integrative human sciences. He redshirted and did not play during the 2023 season in Lexington.
In 2024, Ramsey played in each of the final five games of the season after moving from the offensive line.
He saw time on 21 defensive snaps and also played alongside current K-State wide receiver Brandon White.
Ramsey saw time in 11 games last season, posting five tackles and a sack over 137 defensive snaps for the Wildcats. He had a season-high two tackles against Tennessee Tech, while he had one apiece at Auburn, Vanderbilt and Louisville. (His tackle at Auburn was a 4-yard sack.)
Ramsey prepped under head coach Rick Prete at Roman Catholic (Pa.) High School, where he was viewed as the 47th-best offensive guard in the Class of 2023 by ESPN and ranked as the 71st-best offensive tackle by 247Sports.
A four-year starter on the offensive line, he was named a first-team All-Catholic honoree as a junior and senior.
Ramsey signed with Kentucky as an offensive guard over offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Illinois, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, as well as strong recruiting interest from Wisconsin. Arkansas and Oklahoma also pursued him in the transfer portal.
Ramsey said he loves to go fishing (he will love Tuttle Creek Lake!) and he used to play the violin. His sports hero is Trent Williams “because he made it cool to be an offensive lineman.”
Defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson had some promising praise for Ramsey following spring practices:
Austin Ramsey has continued to take steps forward. All those guys on the inside have at times done the things that we’re wanting them to do, and we just need to see it on a consistent basis.
