When Jedd Fisch hired former All-American safety Taylor Mays to the Washington Huskies' coaching staff, one of the goals was an annual recruiting impact.
Since the ex-USC Trojans defensive back has been part of Fisch's program, Mays has signed or secured a commitment from three four-star safeties, the latest being Corona (Calif.) Centennial junior Jaden Walk-Green on Saturday.

The 5-foot-11, 188-pounder, the No. 32 safety and No. 30 recruit from California in the 2027 class, per 247Sports' Composite rankings, is the second four-star recruit secured by Mays in this year's cycle, along with four-star St. John Bosco product Isala Aisa Wily-Ava.
Not only does the addition of the No. 353-ranked prospect in '27 give Mays another recruiting victory over Arizona State, UCLA, and Vanderbilt, Walk-Green's other three finalists, but it continues to add another layer for why Fisch hired the six-year NFL veteran and Seattle native to his staff in January 2025: bring in annual, elite talent to develop and assist defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and secondary coach John Richardson with making UW a DB haven as it was under the Chris Petersen era.
Though Walk-Green is listed as a safety, his natural ballhawking talent allows defensive coordinator Ryan Walters to play him at multiple positions in the secondary once he arrives on campus.
"Should be viewed as a high-IQ defender with Power Four starter upside that can help limit big plays in the secondary," 247Sports' director of scouting Andrew Ivins said of the newest UW commit.
As a junior, Walk-Green recorded 125 total tackles and 10 interceptions, proving not only to be a turnover machine but also a sideline-to-sideline defensive back who has the size to be versatile enough to play nickel and free safety. Together with Wily-Ava, Mays has added the incoming duo with freshman and former four-star Gavin Day, the fourth-highest ranked signee of the 2026 class out of Faith Lutheran High School in Nevada, in the past two years while developing Alex McLaughlin and Rylon Dillard-Allen into bona fide impact players for UW.
With McLaughlin slated to be out of eligibility after this coming season, UW will need to replenish the position with a pair of young, elite safeties to follow in McLaughlin and Dillard-Allen's footsteps.
