Deion Sanders adds former NFL LB Xavier Adibi to Colorado staff

Deion Sanders' tenure at the helm of Colorado football has seen numerous former NFL players grace the sidelines alongside Coach Prime. As of Monday morning, another name is reportedly being added to the list.

Sanders is set to hire former NFL linebacker Xavier Adibi as part of the Buffaloes' defensive staff for 2026, according to CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz. Adibi played in the NFL for three years and was serving as Virginia Tech's inside linebackers coach after being brought to the Hokies in 2022 as a defensive analyst.

Before making his way into the Power Four ranks, Adibi was the defensive coordinator at East Texas A&M, then known as Texas A&M Commerce, a relatively new FCS school.

In his report, Zenitz did not specify which position Adibi was being hired for; however, given his background as a linebacker, it's safe to say that Sanders is looking to ensure his front seven is right before the Buffs' opener. The addition of Adibi continues to reshape the coaching staff under Coach Prime, who is working with a new offensive and defensive coordinator this season.

Adibi will have plenty of talent to work with at linebacker, which is one of Colorado's focuses in the transfer portal. The Buffs brought in linebacker Gideon Lampron from Bowling Green and Texas linebacker Liona Lefau to lead the group that struggled to find much consistency last year.
