Clemsonfootball’s coaching staff continues to take a measured approach with the 2028 recruiting class, but another nationally regarded prospect is now on the Tigers’ radar.
Four-star athlete Dion Edwards announced Monday that he has received a scholarship offer from Clemson, becoming one of a small group of 2028 prospects to earn early attention from the program. The Tennessee native is already drawing significant interest from across the country despite having several years remaining before signing day.
The offer comes after a busy summer for Edwards, who has spent much of the camp season traveling and competing in front of college coaches. Clemson had the opportunity to evaluate him in person earlier this month when he attended one of the Tigers’ camps, giving the staff a closer look at a prospect whose recruitment has continued to gain momentum.
As Clemson works to identify priority targets in the next recruiting cycle, Edwards fits the profile of a player many major programs are eager to pursue. His offer list has grown steadily throughout the summer and now includes schools from nearly every major conference.
Georgia and Colorado are among the latest programs to extend offers, while Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are also involved. Clemson’s decision to enter the mix adds another national brand to an already impressive group of suitors.
Recruiting analysts have taken notice of Edwards’ potential as well. According to 247Sports, he is currently rated as the No. 87 overall prospect in the country for the 2028 class and the No. 4 athlete nationally.

Clemson has been selective with its early offers in the 2028 cycle, making Monday’s development noteworthy. As the Tigers continue building relationships with some of the nation’s top underclassmen, Edwards becomes another name for fans to watch as the future of the recruiting class begins to take shape.
