The Arizona Wildcats finished out their Official Visit Season this past weekend and now comes the Dead Period, which lasts until the end of July and no official visits can take place. Brent Brennan and Company had a successful June and on Tuesday, the work they put in this past weekend paid off.

Ty Johnson, a 4-star receiver from Southern California, announced his decision to play for the Wildcats.

Johnson, who plays for Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California, has had himself a pretty stellar high school career. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound pass-catcher originally played for Lampasas High School in Central Texas.

As a freshman and sophomore, Johnson played a combined 25 varsity games. During his first 2 years, he racked up 1,512 yards on 97 catches and 17 touchdowns. He moved to California his junior year where he played 7 games and recorded 436 yards on 25 catches and 9 scores.

On the recruiting front, he has 25 recorded offers. He chose Arizona over Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin to name a few.

Johnson is rated as a 4-star in both of 247Sports’ ranking systems. Internally, they have him as the No. 48 wide receiver and the No 26 player in California. In the Composite, Johnson comes in as the No. 363 player nationally, the No. 53 receiver and the 31st best player in California.

Johnson is the second player from Crean Lutheran to commit to Arizona in the 2027 class, along with 3-star receiver Braylen Ross. Overall the Wildcats have 13 public commitments for 2027.
