The summer is a critical time for programs around the country to secure their future. In recent years, top recruits have shifted their timeline toward the summer months, often locking in a commitment and sticking to it until early signing day in December.
With official visit season now in the rearview mirror, the Oregon Ducks are now waiting to see their efforts pay off in the 2027 recruiting class, pushing for another top-five finish. The Ducks have recruited well in-state, securing four of the top players in the state, and landed five-star wideout Dakota Guerrant out of Michigan last week.
The only question moving forward is who will join the Ducks’ class next?
Oregon wrapped its final weekend of official visits with an impressive guest list, including commits Will Mencl and Rashad Streets, as well as top targets five-star Xavier Sabb and four-star Brayton Feister. The Ducks have picked their spots well so far in this recruiting cycle, holding the No. 9 class in the nation, per Rivals.
The Ducks could see their class vault up in the rankings by the end of the summer. Recruiting experts have logged predictions for the Ducks to land Sabb and Feister, as well as four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright III and five-star corner Hayden Stepp.
While Sabb is expected to close his recruitment and make a decision soon, both Feister and Cartwright have set commitment dates for this summer. Cartwright will commit on Sunday, June 28, likely choosing between the Ducks and Michigan State. The Detroit pass-catcher has been linked to the Ducks for a long time, and his official visit last weekend seems to have only improved Oregon’s position as the heavy favorite.
Feister has also been an Oregon target for some time. Georgia is also pursuing the Ohio linebacker, but Oregon has always been the favorite. At this point, it would come as a surprise if Feister does not commit to the Ducks. He is set to commit on July 11.
Oregon is involved in other close races on the recruiting trail as well. Four-star defensive lineman Brayden Parks visited Eugene this past weekend, and it appears to be a tight race between Oregon and Notre Dame for his commitment. Four-star athlete Tae Walden Jr. also visited over the weekend, and the Ducks made a big impression and appear to be the top competition against Auburn.
Four-star offensive lineman Lex Mailangi visited Oregon this past weekend and connected with Mencl. He has spoken glowingly of the Ducks after each visit, and he could join the class at any moment.
The Ducks will also hear from four-star safety Bode Sparrow this week when he commits on June 26. After Oklahoma held a big lead early on in his recruitment, the Ducks, along with BYU and Utah, have made up significant ground. He will commit live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel at noon PT.
Oregon will have its hat on the table in more recruitments this summer, and while the Ducks won’t land all of their favorite targets, there are enough recruits the Ducks should win to move into the top five of the national recruiting rankings by the time fall camp begins in Eugene.
