Is Lane Kiffin on the clock at Ole Miss?
According to The Athletic’, the Rebels have given the 50-year-old coach “an ultimatum to decide his future” before the Egg Bowl rivalry game on Friday, Nov. 28 against Mississippi State.
Ole Miss‘ reported ultimatum comes a few days after the Rebels picked up their 10th win of the season with a 34-24 win over Florida, one of the current Power Four conference openings to which Kiffin has been linked since the Gators fired Billy Napier on Sunday, Oct. 19.
It also comes amid reports LSU officials arranged for a private plane to pick up some of Kiffin’s family members on Monday, Nov. 17 in Oxford and fly them to Baton Rouge. The Tigers, who fired Brian Kelly, are one of four openings in the SEC, including Florida, Arkansas and Auburn.
As noted by the Clarion-Ledger, part of the USA TODAY Network, Kiffin did not provide a definitive answer when asked about his future at Ole Miss following the win over Florida, which saw the Ole Miss student section break out in “We Want Lane” chants in the final 60 seconds.
“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said on Saturday, Nov. 15 after Ole Miss’ win vs. Florida. “Today was awesome. I don’t talk about that stuff. To even talk about it here would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today.”
Ole Miss holds a 54-19 overall record under Kiffin in seven seasons.
