LSU and Corey Raymond have been putting in a lot of work on the recruiting trail this cycle. The Tigers were once considered the favorite to land 5-star corner Joshua Dobson, but after NIL became a larger factor in his recruitment, LSU and Dobson began to grow apart.
Following that, Raymond quickly shifted his focus to two primary targets: Markez Davis, whom the Tigers landed last month, and Greedy James, who was originally committed to Texas.
James may not possess the prototypical physical traits Corey Raymond typically looks for in a cornerback, but he certainly plays like one. He is a versatile defensive back who was recruited by Texas as a safety. However, if Corey Raymond believes you’re a corner, you’re probably a really good corner—and James is exactly that.
James is a 6’1″, 170-pound defensive back from Manvel, Texas. He is a true playmaker. There’s really no other way to describe him. He displays excellent vision as a punt returner, has a long stride that gives him deceptive breakaway speed, fluid hips that allow him to get in and out of his breaks smoothly, outstanding closing speed, and excellent ball skills. He can defend the slot, come downhill, wrap up, and make tackles in the open field.
Corey Raymond is continuing to round out his cornerback room. While depth at the position could be a slight concern heading into the 2026 season, the future looks extremely bright. With the talent now committed in the 2027 class, Tiger fans should be excited about the direction this group is heading.
LSU is hoping for fireworks this weekend—and not just because of the Fourth of July. The Tigers are still pursuing Jalen Brewster and Easton Royal. During his announcement Greedy actually stated that he was working to flip Easton Royal as well.
Can Lane Kiffin make the Boot rock and shake the entire state of Texas by flipping the two biggest recruits currently committed to two different schools in the Lone Star State?
