Texas is moving up the team recruiting rankings. After a huge June that saw the Longhorns gain 11 commitments from the 2027 class, plus a big pledge in early July, UT is pushing for the top spot in the industry rankings.

After adding 12 commitments in June, with 11 from the 2027 recruiting class, the Longhorns now rank No. 5 in the Rivals/On3 team rankings and Texas ranks No. 4 in the 247sports team rankings.

The biggest pledge was from five-star John Meredith III. The defensive back is the No. 2 player in the cycle according to Rivals/On3 and No. 4 in the 247sports rankings. The Fort Worth native is one of the highest ranked DBs Teas has ever landed.

Texas got the commitment from another five-star on the 4th of July when offensive lineman Ismael Camara committed to Texas. At the time of Camara’s decision, there were only four uncommitted five-stars left in the 2027 class. Adding two five-stars in a matter of days will definitely help your overall team recruiting ranking.

The Longhorns also added a quartet of four-stars and five high three-star prospects in June alone. Overall, UT has 22 total commits in the 2027 class, three are five-stars, 12 are four-stars and there are seven three-stars.

Unfortunately, the Longhorns five-star roster might get reduced to two. Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, who committed to Texas in November, seems to be trending towards flipping his commitment to LSU. We’ll see what happens over the next month. Royal says he wants recruiting over by the end of July.

Either way, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian is assembling another top five recrutting class that should set the Longhorns up for a bright and competitive future.
