The Oklahoma Sooners have landed a pledge from three-star athlete Jaiden Fields in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Oklahoma Sooners added another piece to their 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star athlete Jaiden Fields.
The 6’2, 200-pound prospect from Hutto, Texas, chose OU over Texas A&M, Stanford, SMU, and TCU, giving the Sooners yet another win on the recruiting trail as they continue to build one of the top classes in the country.
Fields has an 87.43 composite rating on Rivals, making him a top-500 player nationally and a top-100 recruit in Texas. He ranks as the No. 20 player at his position, according to Rivals.
“Small actions repeated consistently create results that once seemed impossible,” Fields said upon announcing his commitment.
OU wins the battle despite fewer visits
Here’s what stands out about this commitment. Fields took seven visits to SMU, compared to just two visits to Oklahoma. He also visited Texas A&M twice, Oklahoma State twice, and Texas once. Having that big of a gap between SMU and OU in terms of visits and still winning the battle is significant.
Fields recently visited Norman, and that trip proved to be the deciding factor. The Sooners have consistently shown they can close on recruits once they get them on campus, and this commitment follows that trend.
Where Oklahoma’s 2027 class stands now
With Fields on board, Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting class ranks No. 6 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC, according to Rivals. The Sooners now have 27 total commitments, including one five-star and 12 four-stars.
Landing a three-star athlete might not generate the same buzz as a five-star commitment, but Fields fits the mold of a versatile, high-upside player who can contribute in multiple ways. Oklahoma’s ability to pull players from Texas remains one of its biggest recruiting advantages, and adding a top-100 Texas recruit only strengthens its position heading into the rest of the cycle.
With Fields choosing the Sooners over multiple programs that recruited him hard, OU continues to prove it can compete for talent in the Lone Star State, even against schools with heavy in-state ties. The 2027 class could still get better from here, and the Sooners show no signs of slowing down.
