Mike Norvell has been giving Florida State recruiting some much-needed attention this offseason, luring in more and more talents who leave Tallahassee thoroughly impressed after their first visit.

2028 4-star QB Chandler Dyson was one such elite talent who left FSU with the “biggest impression” of the Seminoles.

“The biggest impression was Florida State. They acted like they loved me,”  Dyson told Rivals’ Chad Simmons.

“The coaches were excited for me to be there and fired up the whole time. They really showed my parents they wanted me there, and they believe I could be a starter if I went there.”

It shows that Norvell and his guys are focusing on building a formidable Class of 2028 alongside their Class of 2027.

Dyson Unfazed by Norvell Hot Seat Talks

All the hot seat talks surrounding Norvell seem to be one of the primary reasons why several top recruits are not buying into the Seminoles' vision. They don’t know whether Norvell will be around that long to complete it. Not Dyson, though.

More importantly, Norvell earned Dyson’s trust when he hosted him on June 21.

"Coach Norvell is a great coach. He’s been through some adversity, and he’s working through it," Dyson said per Simmons.

Dyson is the type of commitment FSU needs to lock in for various reasons. Florida State has failed to lock down in-state talent this season. Outside rivals have raided their backyard, and Norvell could not do anything about it.

Top local 2028 signal-callers like Jayden Wade committed to Georgia, and Neimann Lawrence committed to Texas.

Raiding Warner Robins, Georgia, to pull Chandler Dyson is Norvell completely flipping the script. Since they were losing ground in Florida, they are planning to raid the heart of SEC country and take it back.

Plus, it is an addition Norvell’s Class desperately needs. As the No. 152 overall player and the No. 10 quarterback in the country, Dyson could be the face of FSU and the cornerstone of Norvell’s offense if he decides to commit.

The good news with Dyson is that he’ll be making his decision soon, about next year.

“I’m looking to commit before my senior season,” Dyson said. “I’m really just being patient and waiting to see how many offers I can rack up before I really start thinking about committing. For me, I’m talking to different schools and taking the recruiting process very slowly.”

With two years of high school football left in him, there will surely be plenty of other SEC threats like LSU that FSU will have to fend off in a recruiting battle. For now, it all depends on how well the staff continues to kindle their relationship with the quarterback.
