The Florida Gators and newly hired head coach Jon Sumrall have done an incredible job on the recruiting trail throughout the course of the offseason.
Since he arrived at the program back in December, the former Tulane Green Waves' head coach has accumulated a total of 26 commits in the 2027 class, including five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller and four-star quarterback Davin Davidson. But to continue its recent hot stretch on the recruiting trail, the Gators must begin investing in future classes, a move that has already begun to pay off for Sumrall and his staff.
According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett last week, 2028 four-star quarterback Lukas Prock is down to five schools, with Florida in the mix for the young talent.

Can Florida Secure Prock?
Prock, a well-regarded quarterback prospect on the East Coast, has quickly risen through the ranks within the 2028 recruiting class. As of this month, the playmaker is the No. 3 prospect in the state of New Jersey, as well as the No. 6 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports' Composite.
During his sophomore season at Hun High School, Prock was nothing short of impressive, recording 4,330 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. In addition to his strong efforts through the air, the New Jersey native also finished with 154 rushing yards and one touchdown, proving that he is able to use his legs in the run game when needed.
However, Sumrall, the Gators will have to fight an uphill battle for Prock if the program wants to land him for its 2028 class, with schools like the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the mix. While none of the schools in Prock's top five possesses a quarterback commit, the Buckeyes' 2028 class is already filled with top prospects, such as five-star wide receiver Jett Harrison, the younger brother of Arizona Cardinals' star Marvin Harrison Jr.
If Florida lands Prock, the program would finally secure its quarterback for the 2028 class. Sumrall failed to nab four-star quarterback Kingston Preyear earlier this month, so a heavy push for Prock seems possible heading into next year's recruiting cycle.
