Oregon, Dan Lanning Receive Exciting Update on Top 2027 Target

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are on the brink of landing one of the program's best recruiting classes in recent memory.

Throughout the course of the offseason, Lanning and his coaching staff have been active on the recruiting trail, securing a hefty amount of highly-touted prospects within the 2027 cycle. But Oregon's strong efforts could continue heading into the final days of July, with a four-star prospect set to make his decision this week.

According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Sunday, 2027 four-star defensive lineman Brayden Parks has set his commitment date for Jul 23 and will choose between Oregon and Notre Dame.

Could Oregon Secure Parks?

Parks, as one of the top uncommitted players in the 2027 recruiting class, has been a top target for the Ducks. As of this month, the highly-touted recruit is the No. 11 prospect in the state of Illinois, as well as the No. 24-ranked defensive lineman in the 2027 class, per 247Sports' Composite.

During his junior season at Brother Rice High School, Parks quickly rose in the recruiting ranks, thanks to his 61 tackles, 23 tackles for losses, and 7.5 sacks. In addition to his incredible 2025 campaign, the Illinois native stands at 6-foot-3, 305 lbs., which allows him to be a serious interior threat against the run and pass game.

However, in order for Lanning and the Ducks to secure Parks, the program must fight off the likes of Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman this offseason. Parks took official visits to South Bend and Eugene this summer, but unfortunately for Oregon, 247Sports' Brian Dohn gave the talented defender a crystal ball prediction to land with the Fighting Irish last month.

If the Ducks manage to land Parks, there's a legitimate chance Lanning and his coaching staff could have the top recruiting class in the 2027 cycle. With a total of 24 commits, Oregon currently ranks as a consensus top-three program in the ongoing cycle, but a 16th four-star commit could push the Ducks over the edge.
