The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 46 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 46 at LSU:

No. 46 – DB Seth Knothe

Knothe is a depth player, mostly just a strong athlete walk-on transfer coming over from the Boise State Broncos.

The fifth-year senior has the build of a defensive back at 6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, but he was listed as a running back with the Broncos last season. He was previously also a safety and has special teams experience. He ran the ball 12 times for 51 yards and a touchdown.

He does have a connection on the team, as star safety Ty Benefield also comes from Boise State. They likely at least know each other, and the fact that Knothe is switching back to defensive back suggests they were at least friendly.

While walk-ons don't get the most shine, they are important in getting the team prepared to play week in and week out. Some walk-ons also earn their way to a scholarship with hard work and dedication.

A 46-Yard Play

This is a fun one, and one of the highlights of Harris' rocky Tigers career. He was certainly capable of fun plays, if consistent, and this was no different. It was also his first! There isn't great video available, sadly. LSU dominated this game.

Harris came in to relieve Anthony Jennings. He went 4-for-6 for 62 yards and a touchdown through the air with five carries, 53 yards and the above score with his legs.

The Parkway High School alum spent three seasons with LSU, and was the starter in 2015. He has 2,756 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He added 370 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He transferred to the North Carolina Tar Heels in 2017.

Though his playing days ended after college, he has become integral to the Texas Longhorns. He became an offensive analyst and running backs assistant in 2019 before being promoted to the director of recruiting in 2021. The results were fantastic in that time, and he was rewarded to a promotion to general manager in 2024. He wasn't meant to be a quarterback in the long term, but has a great football mind that is being put to use, though to the detriment of LSU.
