The Georgia Bulldogs have officially made it through SEC Media Days week, which means that the season is not far behind and it won't be long before the team is strapping up the pads for fall camp.

Throughout the week in Tampa, much of the narrative revolved around the Texas Longhorns and how great they are supposed to be this year. If it's even possible as the two-time defending champion of the conference, the Dawgs were flying a little bit under the radar. Playing it cool when asked about that though, it seemed like Kirby Smart almost relished the opportunity to be able to motivate his team with this reality.

When the media poll came out at the end of the week though with predictions as to who was going to come out on top, Georgia still reigned supreme and as it turns out, the SEC still runs through Athens. Despite an offseason of talk which would indicate belief elsewhere, when it really came down to it, the majority of the media could not bring themselves to pick against Smart's Bulldogs.

Georgia Still Top Dog in SEC Despite Offseason Noise

Needless to say, losing in the first round of the College Football Playoff does not work to the advantage of the Bulldogs in terms of getting the benefit of the doubt, but what they have done the last two years should still be enough to make them the pick.

The vote was likely extremely close between Georgia and the Longhorns, especially with the way Texas attacked the transfer portal this cycle, but experience outweighs everything. And when it comes to experience, nobody has more than the Bulldogs in the big moments both in the regular season and in the SEC title game.

Ultimately, Georgia has the veteran players including a second-year quarterback who may be the most underrated in the nation as well as the manageable schedule to be thought of as the team to beat once again. This very well could be the year the Longhorns take that next step, but it speaks volumes that even with all that Texas hype, the Bulldogs are still the most popular pick.

It should be the most exciting SEC season fans have seen in some time, and no matter how things actually do shake out, it's safe to say that Georgia is going to be at the center of the discussion for all of it.
