Langdon Area-Munich's Jax Johnson highlights area's 14 selections to Class A all-state team

Nov. 19—GRAND FORKS — Langdon Area-Munich quarterback Jax Johnson finished off an undefeated season with a big performance in the North Dakota Class A state championship game.

He's also added the title of Class A Outstanding Senior Athlete.

Johnson was one of four Langdon Area-Munich honorees and 14 total from the area honored with all-state honors at the Class A level by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association.

Other Langdon Area-Munich all-state selections were running back Sam Davis (first team offense), offensive lineman Landon Schneider (first team offense) and Theo Romfo (first team defense).

Johnson finished the year 105-for-179 passing for 1,805 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also ran 225 times for 1,634 yards and 27 touchdowns. He added four interceptions on defense.

Davis had 160 carries for 1,206 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 22 balls for 229 yards.

Schneider anchored an offensive line that rushed for more than 3,000 yards.

Romfo, a tight end, caught 13 balls for 358 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, Romfo had 29 solo tackles, 30 assisted tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks.

Park River had three all-state selections in running back Tucker Omdahl (first team offense), wide receiver Jace Rosinski and Luke Shirek.

Omdahl, a 5-foot-10 senior, ran 203 times for 1,384 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. He added 36 solo tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. He finished his career with 2,037 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns.

Rosinksi, a 5-10 senior, caught 14 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Rosinski had six games of 10-plus tackles and finished with 96 solo tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.

Shirek, a 6-1 senior linebacker/safety, had eight catches for 200 yards and three receiving touchdowns. On defense, despite missing two games with injury, he had 30 solo tackles, six interceptions, 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.

Hillsboro-Central Valley also had three selections to the all-state team in Tyson Leshuk (first team defense), Sawyer Owens (second team) and Chase Haffelly (second team).

Leshuk, a 6-1 senior quarterback/safety, had 114 rushes for 331 yards. He had 930 passing yards and 10 passing touchdowns. On defense, Leshuk had six interceptions and 39.5 solo tackles.

Owens, a 5-11 senior running back, ran 151 times for 796 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was voted as the No. 1 running back in Region 1 and accumulated 1,180 all-purpose yards.

Haffelly, a 6-2 senior tight end-linebacker, had 18 catches for 320 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he had 53 solo tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and forced four fumbles.

Thompson received two second team all-state picks in Cash Danner and Charlie Yon.

Danner, a 6-4 senior linebacker, had 32 solo tackles and 74 assisted tackles. The three-year starter and St. Thomas commit added two interceptions and 5.0 tackles for loss.

Yon, a 5-10 senior running back, gained 1,055 yards on 203 carries for an average of 5.2 yards per carry. He added nine catches for 167 yards.

Grafton placed two on the all-state team in second team picks Reggie Rice and Easton Ziegelmann.

Rice, a 6-5 senior wide receiver-cornerback, caught 40 balls for 684 yards. He had eight receiving touchdowns. On defense, Rice had three interceptions and 18 solo tackles.

Ziegelmann, a 6-2, 255-pound sophomore lineman, finished with 17 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles and 7.5 sacks.
