Badgers nab first offensive line commit, off to strong start in 2028 class

The Wisconsin Badgers landed a commitment from 2028 three-star offensive lineman Brock Barrows on Tuesday night, he announced. Barrows is Wisconsin’s second commit in the 2028 class and the first offensive lineman, kicking off the class for Eric Mateos.

A native of Missouri, Barrows is ranked the No. 40 interior offensive lineman in the class by 247Sports and the No. 11 player in the state of Missouri. He had accumulated seven offers: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa State, Purdue, and Northwestern.

Wisconsin joined the mix more recently, offering Barrows this spring, but he quickly rose to become a target for Eric Mateos before closing off his recruitment here at the end of July.

Barrows shared a connection with Mateos stemming back to the offensive line coach’s time at Arkansas, which was the first school to offer the three-star back in January of 2025 when Mateos was still there.

He now gives Wisconsin a key interior offensive line piece in the 2028 cycle, potentially being the center of the class. Wisconsin had a strong first group of linemen under Mateos in the 2027 class, landing four-star Hunter Mallinger, four-star Cole Reiter, three-star Reece Mallinger, three-star Ethan McIntosh, and three-star Jack Tabbert.

Now, Barrows is the first piece for 2028, joining four-star linebacker Cale Britt as the two commits for Wisconsin so far.
