Alyssa Lang gets ESPN promotion ahead of college football season

The 2026 college football season is less than four weeks away, and that has a lot of fans excited.

With that in mind, ESPN unveiled its lineup for college football broadcasts this season on Tuesday, Aug. 4, and it features the usual suspects, including Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy, etc.

Alyssa Lang is usually included in ESPN’s release of commentators, but she wasn’t this time. According to Matt Connolly, it’s because she will work Friday and Saturday nights as the host of ESPN’s college football studio wraps.

Before this new role, Lang was the host of “SEC Now” and a sideline reporter for some games during the college football season.

Reshuffling is usually expected before each major sports season gets underway, and this one is no different.

The 2026 college football season is set to start on Aug. 29 with several games, including North Carolina-TCU and NC State-Virginia. The UNC-TCU game will start at noon ET on ESPN, followed by the NC State-UVA game, which will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
