Dylan Raiola Facing Heat For Insulting State Of Nebraska

After two years at Nebraska, quarterback Dylan Raiola transferred to Big Ten rival Oregon, where he will spend 2026 as the backup to Dante Moore before presumably becoming the starter in 2027. As he gets ready to hold the clipboard this year, he had some pretty surprising comments about his now-former team.
In a recent interview, Raiola spoke about his transfer from Nebraska and compared the state and the program to Oregon. He seemed to look down on "cornfields" and asserted that Oregon has "a lot more talent" than Nebraska did.
"There’s not cornfields here. There’s mountains and trees, and I love the nature. As far as football, it’s different, you know, with coaches and players, we have a lot more talent than we did at Nebraska. I don’t say that to knock on them, but I think everybody will know that."

Backlash
Nebraska fans were pretty upset that Raiola would talk down to their state and program like that. Even some non-fans of the team were pretty heated by his words:
"I don’t necessarily disagree with him but holy shit this kid is such a (expletive). I mean just shut up dude, simply say you’re happy to be there – that’s all that’s required," one user wrote.
"Did he not realize there were cornfields in Nebraska before he committed?" another pointed out.
"Talking like he will ever start at Oregon lol," wrote a third.
"I don't necessarily have a problem with what he said. I just don't really understand the point of saying except to try get under the skin of his former team and fans. Shows his true character."
"The only time he saw cornfields is driving between Omaha and Lincoln. What a clown. Maybe Oregon will teach him it's okay to throw the ball away instead of taking a sack and putting his team in a worse position."
Oregon and Nebraska will square off at Autzen Stadium on October 17. But barring some injury or struggle by Dante Moore (or a blowout), Raiola is unlikely to even see the field against the team he just insulted.
