Despite having an opening at head coach, the Auburn football program could pick up a big commit on Friday for the 2027 class.

Per Chad Simmons of Rivals, 2027 four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife is planning to announce his commitment on Friday. Outside of Auburn, he is also considering Georgia Tech, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Auburn currently seems to be a long shot to get Fife, according to Rivals. Tennessee is the favorite at 58.5% followed by Texas A&M at 37.6%. Auburn is next, but just at 2%.

Fife is being recruited by defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams. Right now, the current staff is just trying to hold the recruiting classes together and pitch recruits on Auburn. Also, D.J. Durkin should be a candidate for the job. That is especially the case if he can lead the Tigers to an upset win in the Iron Bowl.

The 2027 class for Auburn is currently ranked No. 29 by 247Sports, but that is just with one commitment. Four-star safety Jaylen Scott made his pledge to Auburn in June. Fife is ranked as the No. 37 defensive lineman and the No. 36 player in Georgia. He plays for Chattooga High School in Summerville, Georgia.

The fact that he is still considering Auburn despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of the program says a lot about the university. Odds are he will not choose the Tigers, but it will be interesting who Fife does choose.
