With the Alabama football program preparing for the 2026 season in under a month, there is no denying that the team has major expectations heading into the new slate. While there is a quarterback battle with the Alabama football team between Keelon Russell and Austin Mack, the starting running back should be Daniel Hill, as this college football analyst teases a breakout year for the junior.

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic would release his annual “College Football Freaks” list, as Hill would make the list at No. 23, who is expected to be the lead running back after the program’s leading rusher, Jam Miller, is in the NFL. First speaking about his athleticism and build, Feldman would highlight Hill’s “exceptional power and excellent burst.”

“Hill, who won’t turn 21 until the week before the Iron Bowl, is a huge back with exceptional power and excellent burst. In high school, he ran away with the Mississippi state 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles titles, winning the 110 by almost half a second and the 300 by almost a second and a half — despite weighing almost 230 pounds,” Feldman wrote.

A look at the dimensions of Alabama football’s Daniel Hill

With the Alabama football team last season, the Crimson Tide running back would record 284 yards on the ground to go along with six touchdowns on 75 carries. However, Hill is a dual-threat weapon for the team, as he racked up 203 yards on 28 receptions through the air with a score.

Going into this season, Hill is now standing at six feet, one inch, weighs 237 pounds, and has impressive weightlifting numbers that could signal an explosive 2026 season for the running back.

“This offseason, Hill, now 6-1, 237 pounds, bench pressed 485 pounds, squatted 800 and power cleaned 375. He also vertical jumped 38 inches and broad jumped 10-4,” Feldman wrote.

At any rate, it remains to be seen how Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer utilizes Hill this upcoming season, as it could be easy to see a big role. The first game for the Alabama football program on Sept. 5 against East Carolina.
