Ohio State Will Reportedly Get Unexpected Chance to Recruit Next Jeremiah Smith During Game Versus Texas Longhorns

A new report reveals Ohio State will get the chance to recruit the best wide receiver in the 2028 recruiting class, and they didn’t even have to set up the opportunity.
It is no secret that Ohio State has become one of the top NFL receiver factories in the nation. Garrett Wilson was 10th in the 2022 NFL Draft. Chris Olave was taken in the very next pick. Jaxon Smith-Njigba went 20th the following year. Marvin Harrison Jr. went fourth overall in 2024. Emeka Egbuka was selected 19th overall in 2025, and this past April, Carnell Tate was the fourth pick in the draft. Almost all of them have made major impacts in the NFL.
Next April, it is possible that the team’s current WR1, Jeremiah Smith, will be in the running to be the No. 1 overall pick. It is safe to say that no program is better at developing future stars in the NFL at the wide receiver spot than Ohio State. However, turnover is constant in the college ranks, and the Buckeyes have to find the next stars to replace the ones that depart for the pros.
That can be done in the transfer portal or the traditional way, by recruiting the best talent available in high school. Well, OSU will get another chance to do that on Sept. 12. According to Rivals, the No. 1 WR recruit from the class of 2028, Brysen Wright, will be in Austin in a few weeks for a game-day visit to see Texas take on Ohio State.

This will be Wright’s second visit to Austin, and he is also set for a game-day visit at Florida later that month. Obviously, Texas has a strong chance at landing the talented receiver, and that is why he is meeting with program officials a second time. However, according to 247 Sports, Ohio State is one of the schools he has some interest in, and he has received an offer from the program.
How good of a recruiting pitch would it be for the Buckeyes to go into Austin and score a big win led by outstanding play from their passing game? That is all possible on Sept. 12.
The Jacksonville, FL product that is currently starring at Mandarin High School is nearly 6-foot-4 and already weighs 215 pounds. He hasn’t even gotten into a college program and already has the size to do damage at the next level. He has good hands, is strong in 50-50 catches, and has burst that allows him to separate from chasing defenders. Wright has the talent to be the heir apparent to Jeremiah Smith in a couple of years.
