It sure felt like Ohio State dominated Penn State through the first half of the game Saturday in the ‘Shoe, but only led by three points heading into halftime because of a late turnover. That changed quickly in the second half when the Bukeyes dialed up some big plays in the passing game and the defense buckled down and stymied a Nittany Lion attack that moved the ball better than most teams before halftime. It all resulted in an impressive 38-14 win.
Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith knew his team would have a major challenge coming into the ‘Shoe and beating No. 1 Ohio State, and he was impressed with the Buckeyes after the game when he met with the media to discuss what he saw.
We have his postgame press conference if you haven’t had a chance to see it, thanks to the Buckeye Huddle YouTube channel. Smith complimented the talent of Ohio State, how great Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith are, where his team struggled against the Buckeyes, and more.
Ohio State is now 8-0 and will now prepare to play in West Lafayette against Purdue next Saturday. We will, of course, have plenty to preview and analyze this week as the Buckeyes get ready for that one.
