CLEMSON — Clemson football is paying $500,000 to face Furman, an in-state FCS school, in Week 13.

Clemson will host Furman on Nov. 22 (4:30 p.m. ET, The CW) at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers (5-5) will pay the six-figure amount to the Paladins (6-5) by Feb. 15, 2026, according to the game contract. Clemson and Furman entered this agreement in October 2017. Furman will be allotted 300 complimentary tickets and up to 2,000 tickets were allocated for sale if requested by Feb. 1, 2025.

The Tigers have won 32 straight games against the Paladins, which is their longest active and all-time winning streak. They last faced Furman in 2022, and Clemson needs to win more game to be bowl eligible for the 21st straight season.

Clemson’s annual non-conference scheduling philosophy is to face two Power Four conference opponents (LSU in Week 1, South Carolina in Week 14), a Group of Five conference opponent (Troy in Week 2) and an in-state FCS squad.

How much Clemson football is paying nonconference opponents in 2025

Clemson is spending $2.5 million on its three nonconference games at Memorial Stadium.

In addition to the $500,000 paid to Furman, Clemson agreed to pay $500,000 to LSU for its 17-10 loss on Aug. 30 and $1.5 million to Troy for a 27-16 win on Sept. 6.

Last season, Clemson paid a total of $1.725 million after hosting two non-ACC opponents: App State ($1.25 million) and The Citadel ($475,000).

Clemson’s in-state rivalry game against South Carolina will be in Columbia this year, and both charge each other $0 since they play each other annually and alternate locations between Memorial Stadium and Williams-Brice Stadium.

Their latest game contract extended the Palmetto Bowl series through 2027 and revealed South Carolina has a clause that gives the Gamecocks the option to move the Palmetto Bowl in Columbia to a Friday instead of a Saturday.
