The SMU Mustangs will open the season against the FSU Seminoles in Week 1, and head coach Rhett Lashlee has shared a positive injury update on quarterback Kevin Jennings.

The veteran has been limited during camp after he jammed a finger, impacting his ability to throw the ball. Despite missing time, Lashlee told ESPN's Pete Thamell his recovery is "going well" and that he will have all the practice time he needs before the Mustangs play the Seminoles on Sept. 7.

"No pain, and we are working him back in this week and expect him to have a full two weeks to get ready for game one and be 100%," Lashlee said.

Jennings is looking to lead SMU back to the College Football Playoffs after doing so in 2024. The redshirt senior has made 26 starts during his career, completing 65% of his passes for 7,709 yards, 55 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions. He has also rushed for 559 yards and 10 more touchdowns.

He is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country and is well equipped to handle missing time in camp.
