Three Texas A&M newcomers make Top 25 impact SEC transfer rankings

Texas A&M's 2026 offseason focused on replacing 15 2025 starters, including a record 10 players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. After redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed returned for his second full starting season, third-year coach Mike Elko made several staff shakeups, including elevating veteran WR coach Holman Wiggins as the program's new offensive coordinator.

One of the primary focuses on defense? Replacing unanimous All-American Edge Cashius Howell, who led the SEC with 11.5 sacks and nearly 40 pressures, while bulking up the rest of the defensive line after defensive tackles Albert Regis and Tyler Onyedim were selected in the third round of the draft. Thanks to a massive NIL budget combined with Elko's development status, the Aggies landed key commitments from former Northwestern Edge Anto Saka and North Carolina transfer DT CJ Mims, who are both in line to start this season.

Before star wide receiver KC Concepcion was selected 24th overall by the Cleveland Browns, the Aggies landed Alabama transfer wideout Isaiah Horton, whose 6'4" frame provided critical size to A&M's loaded receiver corps, and before four 2025 starting offensive linemen were picked from the third to seventh rounds, Elko and OL coach Adam Cushing landed four SEC startin OL commit, led by fellow Alabama transfer Wilkin Formby.

To no surprise, Anto Saka, Isaiah Horton, and Wilkin Formby were named the 12th, 13th, and 16th most impactful transfers in the SEC by Athlon editor Steven Lassan, which is spot on given their importance in replacing key starters at positions that will greatly impact the Aggies' chances of making it back to the College Football Playoff for a second straight season.
