There are six Big 12 teams still in contention for the 2025 Big 12 championship game, according to the conference.
Those teams? Texas Tech, BYU, Cincinnati, Utah, Houston and Arizona State.
But the list could be down to two after Big 12 games on Nov. 22.
BYU, which plays at Cincinnati, and Texas Tech, which is idle, can both clinch berths in the conference title game this week.
Texas Tech is currently 7-1 in conference play, while BYU is 6-1. Cincinnati, Utah, Houston and Arizona State are all 5-2.

Will chaos reign in Big 12 football season once again?
Last season, four teams tied atop the Big 12 football standings with Arizona State, Iowa State, BYU and Colorado all going 7-2 in conference play and ASU and Iowa State winning tiebreakers to get the title game berths.
Could that happen again?
There’s a chance the Big 12 title game will be set after this week’s conference games, but Big 12 game odds suggest we could end up having a very exciting final week of the regular season in the conference.
BYU is favored over Cincinnati, Arizona State is favored over Colorado, Utah is favored over Kansas State and Houston is favored over TCU this week, so we could have a very long list of potential Big 12 clinching scenarios next week.

Big 12 tiebreakers for 2025 season
This gets complicated. The Big 12 has a complete tiebreaker policy laid out on its site, but here’s a summary:
For ties between two teams:
- Head-to-head record among the tied teams
- Win percentage against all common conference opponents among the tied teams
- Win percentage against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on the record in all games played within the conference), proceeding through the standings
- Combined win percentage in conference games of conference opponents (strength of conference schedule)
- Total number of wins in a 12-game season
- Highest ranking by SportSource Analytics (team Rating Score metric), following regular season
- Coin toss
For ties between more than two teams:
- The records of the three (or more) tied teams based on winning percentage among the tied teams
- The records of the three (or more) tied teams compared based on winning percentage against common conference opponents played by all other teams involved in the tie
- Record of the three (or more) tied teams against the next highest-placed common opponent in the standings, proceeding through the standings
- Record of the three (or more) tied teams based on combined win percentage in conference games of conference opponents (strength of conference schedule)
- Total number of wins in a 12-game season
- Highest ranking by SportSource Analytics (team Rating Score metric), following regular season
- Coin toss
