Chris Brown’s tour earnings can now be redirected to his former housekeeper as she works to collect a nearly $13 million judgment stemming from a 2020 dog attack at his Los Angeles home. The latest ruling comes weeks after a jury ordered Brown to pay Maria Avila nearly $13 million and just days after he and Usher expanded The R&B Tour with eight additional stadium dates.
A Los Angeles judge granted Avila’s request to collect from Brown’s royalties and tour income, AllHipHop reported. Brown had objected to the effort, arguing that her attempt to reach his present and future earnings was too broad, but the judge rejected his challenge.
The ruling moves the case from the verdict stage into collection. Avila was awarded $12.9 million after jurors found Brown and his company, Black Pyramid LLC, liable for negligence over the December 2020 attack at his Tarzana property.
Avila said she was taking out trash when Hades, Brown’s 200-pound Caucasian shepherd, attacked her. The assault left her with permanent facial scarring, nerve damage and partial vision loss. Her sister, who witnessed the attack, was awarded $885,000 for emotional distress, while Avila’s husband received $50,000.
Brown testified that he had warned Avila about the dogs and maintained that Hades was a security animal. He also argued that she should not have entered parts of the property without security present. The jury ultimately sided with Avila.
The collection order places Chris Brown’s tour earnings at the center of the dispute while the singer remains on the road with Usher. Their co-headlining stadium run was recently extended to 59 dates through December, with additional shows in cities including Baltimore, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Indianapolis and Miami.
Avila had previously told the court that Brown had made no effort to satisfy the judgment and sought access to income from his touring, royalties and entertainment work. It remains unclear whether Brown will seek reconsideration or appeal the latest ruling.
