Michigan State opponent names starting QB, familiar to Spartans

A team on Michigan State football’s 2026 schedule has just announced their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, and it is one the Spartans have familiarity with.
Rutgers has officially announced that Dylan Lonergan has won their starting QB job. Lonergan spent last season with Boston College, after previously being with Alabama.
Lonergan should be known to the Spartans after he played in Spartan Stadium with the Eagles last year, going 34-for-45 for 390 yards and four touchdowns, although the Spartans won the 2OT thriller, 42-40.
Michigan State and Rutgers will face off in the last week of the season.
