Micah Huff's overreaction take of the week: Big Ten QB hierarchy

Last season, if you look at the top-performing quarterbacks in college football, three of them resided in the Big Ten. Two of them finished the season as Heisman finalists, and ultimately Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza took home the prestigious trophy. Quarterback play in the Big Ten is vital to success in the conference and the postseason. This year, that trend will continue, but with two different faces at the top.

Here is my overreaction take for this week:

The two best quarterbacks in the Big Ten will be on two teams that came from the Pac-12. USC Trojans starting quarterback Jayden Maiava and the top quarterback in the country, Dante Moore, will both be the 2 best in their respective conferences.

Dante Moore is a legitimate NFL quarterback prospect. He made the right decision going back to college to take his game to the next level. He is great in all the most important quarterback traits. His accuracy is off the charts, and he can make every throw possible. His processing sets him apart from most quarterbacks. Coming off last season's success and even more confident, Moore will be the most productive quarterback in the Big Ten. He has the weapons and an improved connection with all of them to do so. Moore will be at the top of the list for the Heisman Trophy.

Jayden Maiava will be the second-best quarterback in terms of production after this season. In his first starting year for Riley, he showed so much potential. There were inconsistencies along the way, but Maiava, more often than not, was a high-level quarterback. The USC gunslinger could very well be the next Darnold with his talent. New weapons, consistency on the offensive line, and a dominant run game will all help pave the way for Maiava to have a breakout year. He will have a season that will open the door for him to be in Heisman consideration and an even higher draft pick than expected in next year's draft.
