Chaka Khan says she’s ‘partnered out’ and has no plans to marry again

After two marriages, the Queen of Funk says she’s not searching for another relationship and is content letting life unfold.
Chaka Khan says she has no plans to walk down the aisle again after two marriages, declaring that she is “partnered out” and content to let life unfold without searching for another relationship.
The 73-year-old addressed her love life while discussing her upcoming album “Chakzilla” in an interview with The Observer, People reported. Asked what she is still waiting for after singing about “waiting all of my life for this moment” on the album’s title track, Khan said she would rather not spell out her wishes because people might try to arrange them for her.
“I’m not looking for that. I’m partnered out,” Khan said.
The Queen of Funk has been married twice. She married Hassan Khan in 1970 when she was 17, but the marriage ended the following year. Khan later married Richard Holland in 1976, and they divorced in 1980. She shares son Damien with Holland and welcomed daughter Indira with Rahsaan Morris in 1973.
In the same Observer interview, Khan said she does not like holding onto the past and described herself as a “next” person. She also pushed back when the interviewer referred to her as a straight icon, saying she does not publicly share her sexual orientation and that her private life is her own business.
Meanwhile, Khan remains busy professionally. “Chakzilla,” her first studio album since 2019’s “Hello Happiness,” is scheduled for release Sept. 18. The project was largely co-written with Sia and includes collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Lenny Kravitz.
Her stage musical, “I’m Every Woman,” is also running in London through Sept. 27. The production draws from Khan’s decades-long career, personal struggles and music catalog, giving the singer another opportunity to reflect on her life while making clear she is not looking for another husband to complete it.
