Beyoncé is donating $1 million to organizations providing emergency relief in Colombia after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake devastated parts of the country earlier this month. Beyoncé’s donation extends the singer’s history of disaster relief, including BeyGOOD’s $2.5 million commitment to LA fire victims in 2025 and her support for Hurricane Harvey victims in her hometown of Houston.
Parkwood Entertainment confirmed the personal donation, EFE reported, saying the money is intended to provide food and housing supplies to the areas hardest hit by the Aug. 10 earthquake in Chocó. Parkwood also directed people seeking information on ongoing relief efforts to Food For The Poor and World Central Kitchen.
The earthquake struck near San José del Palmar in western Colombia and was felt across multiple cities. The latest figures cited by EFE from Colombia’s National Unit for Disaster Risk Management put the death toll at 331, with 4,439 people injured and 240 still missing. Authorities have reported 364 rescues.
Parkwood said the disaster destroyed homes and damaged buildings, roads and other infrastructure, worsening access to food in affected communities. The company said Beyoncé’s contribution is earmarked for immediate relief.
The donation comes as relief and reconstruction efforts expand across Colombia. Colombian singer Juanes and his Mi Sangre Foundation joined artists, athletes and businesses Tuesday in launching “Marea Viva, por el Chocó de mañana,” a campaign seeking 15 billion Colombian pesos, about $5 million, for longer-term housing reconstruction.
International aid has also poured in. The United States has provided $26.5 million in emergency humanitarian assistance, including support for food, health, protection, shelter and structural assessments, according to the State Department.
Beyoncé has repeatedly used her philanthropy to respond to disasters. BeyGOOD established a $2.5 million relief fund after the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, while the singer and her foundation previously supported families affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston.
Her latest contribution is aimed at immediate needs as Colombia continues the difficult work of recovery and rebuilding.
