Texas football garners immense preseason hype once again with the Longhorns earning a College Football Playoffs prediction. Head coach Steve Sarkisian welcomes back Arch Manning at quarterback to re-energize Austin. Yet renown college football analyst David Pollock has drawn concerns for the 2026 Longhorns.

So Pollock, who has now joined On3, detailed why he’s concerned about Texas.

“I think it’s been, ‘Okay, wait a minute.’ Worried about Arch… But Ty’Anthony Smith was dismissed last week from the team. Big-time contributor. Conduct detrimental to the team is what Sark said,” Pollock began on his podcast “See Ball Get Ball” that aired Wednesday. “He wasn’t going to go into the details but he’s a really good player. You talk about depth. It’s unfortunate right now at this point of the season.”

Indeed the linebacker Smith got removed a day ago. Conduct detrimental to the team rose as the reason. Yet Smith’s exit isn’t the only area Pollock is growing concerned with.

Some Texas parents have taken to social media to blast Sarkisian and the program. Featuring some threatening to expose what’s going on behind the scenes.

“But then you also have guys that are freshmen, their parents going on social media and blasting Texas and saying, ‘I’m going to unveil what’s going on.’ Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There’s a lot of smoke in Austin,” Pollock said. “That’s not good, man. This is not how you want to start your season.”

Texas even dealt with another distraction: NFL players aiming to play for a fifth season of college. But the SEC put its foot down before Wednesday by prohibiting those rookies from returning.
