5 standouts from Titans joint practice with Bears

The Tennessee Titans were back on the field for a joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Thursday and finished off training camp with a physical session.

With the sun beating down on a hot day, the Titans got to work and had some heated competition, with some of the position battles coming into focus. Both the Titans' offense and defense started slowly but came on to finish the joint practice on a high note.

There were some uneven moments, and some players struggled, but as always, some players rose above and flashed. Here is a breakdown of some of the standouts from Thursday’s joint practice.

Carnell Tate had a day

After going through a rookie lull in training camp, Tate picked it up on Thursday and looked like the receiver many have been hoping for. Targeted early and often, he had his best practice in a couple of weeks and looked polished and physical. He was a mismatch all practice.

Erick Hallett continues to shine

Backup safety Erick Hallett continues to impress, and after another strong showing against the Bears, he has put himself squarely in the conversation for one of the final roster spots.

Chimere Dike was impressive

Dike has quietly had an outstanding training camp, and proved on Thursday that he can make an impact on offense when called upon. The All-Pro return specialist got some added snaps once Robinson left practice, and he delivered. In all, he had two touchdowns on the day.

Xavier Restrepo continues to make a case

Restrepo got some early work with the ones, and as usual, he produced. There is no doubt that he can make an impact on offense if called upon; the big question is whether he does enough on special teams to earn one of the final roster spots.

Tony Pollard was productive

The Titans’ backfield is in good hands with Pollard, who continues to produce when his number is called. Pollard finished off an outstanding training camp making plays on the ground and as a receiver.

The Titans will now turn their full attention to their preseason finale against the Bears on Saturday night at Nissan Stadium, where the final battles for roster spots will conclude.
