The Cleveland Browns played their final preseason game of the summer, with quarterback Dillon Gabriel taking most of the snaps.
A decision has been made in Cleveland to name Deshaun Watson as the starting quarterback ahead of the 2026 season.
It is not a decision that has gone down well among supporters, with fans still not forgiving Watson for his past issues.
Todd Monken provided QB3 Gabriel with an opportunity to shine on Thursday against the New England Patriots, and shine he did.
Gabriel put on a show in Cleveland as he led the Browns to a convincing win over the Super Bowl runners-up.

Considering the Browns had lost their two previous preseason games, Thursday night was a breath of fresh air for the fans.
Gabriel completed 12/15 throws, landed three touchdowns and ended the game with a QBR of 157.9.
Having seen Deshaun Watson named as the starter, it is clear to see fans want the decision reversed and Gabriel given an opportunity.
‘Start Dillon. Trade Shedeur. Backup Watson lol,’ said one Browns fan on X.
‘Stunt on them, King,’ added another.
As performances go, this was just about as impressive as they get from a young quarterback, with Gabriel also avoiding any interceptions or sacks.
Keen to see more of Gabriel in the starting role, one fan said: ‘Alright let’s have the conversation’.
While another Browns fan said: ‘He’s the best QB on the roster’.
Browns fans are not happy with Watson being named QB1, as the veteran still struggles to even impress in practice.
Given expectations are already low ahead of the new season, some fans just want to see Gabriel given his chance: ‘I would keep Dillon and dump Deshaun Watson’.
‘We support good ball,’ replied one Browns fan.
All eyes will now be on Watson when the Browns open up their season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
