In the annual rivalry battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy, Michigan is listed as a three-possession favorite. But one national analyst believes it'll be the Spartans who come out on top in this year's rivalry matchup.

Liam Blutman of the Brandon Walker College Football Show has pegged Michigan State over rival Michigan as his preseason biggest upset of the Big Ten for the upcoming season. Him and Walker both provided a number of predictions ahead of the season kicking off this weekend, with Blutman choosing the Spartans over the Wolverines as his biggest upset.

You can see each of Walker and Blutman's predictions for the Big Ten in the embedded social media post below:

As of earlier this month, Michigan State was listed as a 17.5-point underdog to their in-state rivals. So if they were to pull the upset of the Wolverines, it certainly would classify as one of (if not the) biggest upsets of the season in the Big Ten.

Michigan State last beat Michigan in 2021 and is looking to avoid losing five straight to the Wolverines for the first time since 2002 through 2007. Michigan State has lost three of their last four games against the Wolverines by double-digits.

I would love if Blutman is right about this prediction, but I personally don't expect it to happen. A lot can change before these two teams meet on November 7 in Ann Arbor, Mich., but as of now I'm leaning towards a Michigan victory again this year. Hopefully, Blutman is right and I'm wrong about that.
