Nebraska quarterback commit throws for 311 yards in season-opening win

A Husker quarterback commit won his Nebraska high school debut. Trae Taylor and Millard South (NE) defeated Millard North (NE) 35-34 on Friday night.

Taylor threw for 311 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He was just as impressive with his legs, running for 101 yards on 24 carries.

Taylor joined Millard South in 2026 after a strong 2025 season at Carmel Catholic (IL). In 11 games, he threw for 3,571 yards, 38 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran 77 times for 633 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The five-star quarterback joined a Millard South team that went 12-1 last season and won back-to-back Class A State championships. He took over as the starting quarterback, replacing Alabama quarterback Jett Thomalla.

Taylor isn't the only Nebraska commit on the field for Millard South on Friday night. Wide receiver commit Antayvious Ellis had three catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. Safety commit Tory Pittman and offensive tackle commit Matt Erickson were also on the field on Friday but for Millard North.
