Former UC Bearcats RB Corey Kiner traded from Arizona to New England

Former Ohio Mr. Football and Cincinnati Bearcats running back Corey Kiner is switching teams again.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports the Arizona Cardinals are sending Kiner to the New England Patriots for a seventh-round pick in 2028.

The 24-year-old Kiner had 64 yards on 15 carries for the Cardinals in the preseason, scoring the first touchdown of the exhibition campaign in the NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton.

Kiner had 58 yards and two receptions in four NFL games for Arizona last season. The 5-foot-9, 209-pound rusher was signed as a free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers and also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings last season before getting into games with Arizona.

Kiner went to LSU and played for Ed Orgeron and, briefly, former UC coach Brian Kelly with the Tigers in 2021, gaining 320 yards with two touchdowns. He transferred to UC for 2022 and played one season with Luke Fickell, gaining 362 yards with five touchdowns.

His final two college seasons saw him surpass 1,000 yards in 2023 and 2024 with Scott Satterfield's running attack. Kiner ran for 1,047 yards with five touchdowns in 2023 and followed that with 1,153 and four scores in 2024. He also added 16 receptions for 111 yards his senior year.

Overall, Kiner ran for 2,882 yards and 16 touchdowns in college and caught 32 passes for 172 yards.

At Roger Bacon High, Kiner ran for 7,130 yards and 125 touchdowns over four seasons and became Greater Cincinnati's third Ohio Mr. Football, joining Norwood's Marc Edwards and Wyoming's Evan Prater (later a UC teammate).

Kiner originally committed to LSU after his senior season, less than two years later, Kiner returned home to play his final three seasons at Nippert Stadium with the Bearcats.
