Micah Huff's breakout star for USC Trojans versus San Jose State

A lot of freshmen generated excitement for the USC Trojans this season. Especially at wide receiver, it seems the Trojans are loaded with young talent. Lincoln Riley and Jayden Maiava made sure to get everybody involved in the first game against San Jose State. However, one freshman stood out the most. My breakout star of the game for the USC Trojans vs the San Jose Spartans is Trent Mosley. Mosley used his debut to stand out amongst the others. The freshman receiver looked like the best player on the field Saturday.
Many were excited about his versatility and what his role could be on special teams. On his first return, he nearly took a punt back for a touchdown, breaking many tackles on a big 40-yard gain. After that play, Mosley's confidence skyrocketed. With each return after that, there was confidence that he was going to take it back for a touchdown.
He was even better as a receiver. Mosley had 7 catches, and on each of them he showed his yards-after-the-catch ability. Mosley finished with 118 yards receiving and found the end zone late in the game.
It is clear that Lincoln Riley prioritized getting him the football, and Mosley did not disappoint him. It is easy to look at one game and overreact, but Mosley built something special in his debut, and he will be a huge difference-maker for the Trojans this season.
