TV channel, commentators set for Georgia football's season opener

The Georgia Bulldogs open their 2026 college football season against the Tennessee State Tigers. Georgia is back-to-back defending SEC champions, but has come up short in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals in consecutive season.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart and quarterback Gunner Stockton are looking for more success in 2026. The Bulldogs are excited to face an opponent after a long offseason of practice and conditioning.
"I'm excited about game week," Smart said. "I know our players are ready to play someone other than each other, so the guys are excited. I know the fans are excited. I'm excited to see this team go out and play their first game. We have to play somebody else to get better, and that's the stage we're in."
Georgia is 0-0 entering Week 1, while Tennessee State is 0-1. The Tigers had a botched field goal late in their narrow 26-24 loss to Jackson State in Week 0.
"They play a really tight, exciting ball game," Smart said on Tennessee State. "They had a tough loss on Saturday night, but played really well against Jackson State, so we'll begin to prepare for these guys today."
Georgia is heavily favored against Tennessee State. The Bulldogs are over 40-point favorites against the Tigers, who are a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent.
The commentators for the Georgia-Tennessee State game are Clay Matvick, Rocky Boiman and Laura Stickells. Fans can watch Georgia's season opener on SEC Network+ at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 5.
