MIAMI, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes are reportedly among the final 12 in Malachi Lee’s recruiting process, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Other programs include Florida, Nebraska, Michigan, Oregon, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, and Arizona State.
Lee is a four-star top-40 recruit from Loudoun Sports Academy, a specialized hybrid institution and athletic program located in Leesburg, Virginia. Before transferring, he attended Westfield High School for the last two years. In 25 total games, Lee caught 83 passes for 1,231 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. He showed versatility on the field by rushing 90 times for 644 yards.
The highly-touted recruit is listed at 6-2 and 185 pounds and is part of the 2028 high school graduating class.
Lee is a multi-sport athlete with a football and basketball background.
The Hurricanes currently have two verbal commits from 2028 recruits:
– Four-star offensive tackle Kweli Fielder
– Three-star quarterback Knox Annis
After building a top-three 2027 recruiting class, with the potential of adding another five-star, the Hurricanes are looking to translate the same success.
Lee is a wide receiver with great speed, makes contested catches, and breaks tackles. Also, he’s logged snaps in the secondary. Lee is a ballhawk who has carved out eight total interceptions, along with 66 total tackles, 19 solos and 47 assists, and two tackles for loss.
On special teams, Lee was used as both a kick and punt returner. In 15 total returns, he had 276 yards, once for a touchdown.
The Hurricanes have yet to show Lee around the Coral Gables campus, including the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility and Greentree practice fields. It’s where the team works to go, as Mario Cristobal says, “1-0.”
As the 2026 college football season is officially underway, the Hurricanes are scheduled to host future recruits, but Lee has yet to be included. It will likely continue to be a work in progress.
Coming off a trip to the National Championship game, “The U” has experienced a different surge on the high school recruiting trail. The Coral Gables program is reclaiming its status among the elites to compete and develop. Recruits are taking Cristobal’s vision and results seriously.
The Hurricanes will kick off the season this Friday, Sept. 4, against Stanford in California. The game is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. E.T. and televised on ESPN. A new chapter is being written in “The U’s” history.
