The latest update, reported by TMZ, comes after Richie checked himself into a St. Louis hospital following his Aug. 29 performance at The Muny. Sources familiar with his situation told the outlet that doctors are now testing him for cardiac-related issues. Earlier reports had indicated that possible mild dehydration was also being considered.
Importantly, there has been no public announcement confirming that Richie has been diagnosed with a heart condition. His representatives have not publicly disclosed a specific diagnosis or detailed the results of the tests.
Concern began during Saturday night’s concert when Richie appeared to struggle toward the end of his performance. He asked his team to bring him a chair and completed his final number, “All Night Long,” while seated. He subsequently sought medical attention.

On June 24, Richie became dizzy and told the audience he felt “strange” during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, forcing him to end the performance early. The singer has continued performing despite the setbacks. He is touring with Earth, Wind & Fire as part of the “Sing a Song All Night Long” run, and his next currently scheduled performance is Sept. 26 at Chase Center in San Francisco.
