Notre Dame football won against Syracuse on Saturday afternoon, but it lost two impactful players on defense for the remainder of the season.
Oddly enough, head coach Marcus Freeman wasn’t asked about linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa’s injury suffered against the Orange, and on Sunday it’s as announced by Notre Dame Football PR team that the sophomore linebacker will be out for the rest of the year with a left knee injury.
Not only was KVA lost, but so was cornerback Chance Tucker, who has broken his left tibia and will also be out for the remainder of the season. The senior hasn’t played much this year, but Freeman thought it would be great to see him playing what could be his final game in Notre Dame Stadium.
The biggest loss is clearly KVA, who is tied for third on the team in tackles with 48, has three sacks, an interception and fumble recovery. While he wasn’t a starter, Viliamu-Asa played starter minutes and had that kind of impact. Tough news for Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
