Texas A&M will reportedly host two 2028 prospects committed elsewhere

Texas A&M's 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State will also serve as a great opportunity for coach Mike Elko and his staff to host a long and growing list of 2028 prospects, which now includes two blue-chip recruits currently committed elsewhere, as AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway confirmed this week that four-star athlete Za'Kari Johnson and now, four-star wide receiver Sakura "Sip" Cooper, will head to College Station this week.

So far, the Aggies have landed commitments from four-star Edge Chance Archangel and five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III, which is quite the early haul, especially Tabron, who is widely considered the most talented signal caller in the cycle.

Among the reported 150 prospects set to visit Texas A&M this weekend, nearly every one of the program's six five-star commitments in the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle will also visit, including OT Mark Matthews, who is reportedly close to shutting down his recruitment in the coming days.

Tabron's verbal commitment will lead to more attention from playmakers in the 2028 cycle, and Sakura "Sip" Cooper, who will also reportedly visit the Texas Longhorns next weekend when they take on Ohio State, likely sits atop the Aggies' list of priority wide receivers after watching the rising junior record 1,300 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns during his freshman season.

Za'Kari Johnson is listed as an athlete, but could play wide receiver, safety, or cornerback, while his background as a quarterback, similar to Texas A&M safety-turned-nickel Bryce Anderson, should come in handy from a football IQ standpoint at the next level.
