Alabama QB commit Trent Seaborn becomes state’s all-time passing yards leader

Thompson (Ala.) quarterback Trent Seaborn has officially etched his name into the Alabama high school football record books.

On Friday night, the senior gunslinger became the AHSAA all-time passing yards leader, surpassing the 11,024-yard mark previously set by Piedmont’s Jack Hayes. Seaborn, a three-time state title winner, broke the record early in the third quarter of Thompson’s matchup with Vestavia Hills. He entered the game needing 257 yards to reach Hayes’ total.

It’s been a long and successful high school career for Seaborn, who originally hails from Hawaii. He was first thrust into action as an eighth grader. Friday night marks his 54th game for the Warriors. It’s been nothing but consistency from the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder.

Entering Friday, Seaborn had thrown for 111 touchdowns and averaged over 200 passing yards per game. He’s continued to up his level each season, too. He really cemented his push for records as a junior last fall, firing 264 completions, totaling 3,692 passing yards and 35 touchdowns. He’s thrown for at least 25 TDs in each of the last three years.

The Alabama commit already has the state’s all-time record for completions, entering Friday with 774. He’s also pushing for Hayes’ all-time passing TDs record, which sits at 158. Given how well he’s played early on as a senior, every milestone looks to be in reach.

‘Alabama has its quarterback’

Thompson, which has won back-to-back state titles, defeated Vestavia Hills 49-0 and is now 3-0 start to the 2026 campaign. Seaborn threw for 627 yards and eight TDs in the first two games, steamrolling Central and Clay-Chalkville, the No. 2 and 3 teams in the state. The Warriors are the No. 7 team in the nation and No. 1 team in Alabama, per the Rivals Composite Rankings.

Seaborn is the No. 292 overall prospect and No. 22 QB in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 14 senior in the Yellowhammer State.

“Seaborn has played in enough big games that very little seems to faze him anymore,” Rivals’ Chad Simmons recently wrote about the future Bama QB after he beat Clay-Chalkville 37-13. “He consistently delivered with touch and accuracy, extended plays when necessary and made throws outside the pocket. Whether pressure arrived or he had time to operate, Seaborn rarely appeared uncomfortable.
